Motion Relay

Motion Relay privacy policy

Motion Relay is provided by Netherwood Data Partners, LLC. This policy covers the phone apps, connector and related account services. The public preview is intended for people in the United States who are 18 or older.

Updated October 8, 2026.

Workout measurements

Depending on your watch, activity and sensors, Motion Relay receives measurements such as heart rate, pace, speed, distance, elapsed time, cadence, power, elevation, oxygen saturation, calories and training effect. Session identifiers, sequence numbers, activity state and timestamps help check the source, freshness and ordering of readings. A measurement may be unavailable.

Motion Relay does not collect GPS tracks or precise location history through this relay. Precise coordinates, navigation destinations, device serial numbers and raw watch packets are excluded from assistant snapshots. Fitness data is not sold or used for targeted advertising.

Your phone and optional health access

Current workout readings are held in memory. A complete current or last workout saved across app or phone restarts is planned and is not part of this preview. Do not rely on Motion Relay as your workout record. Garmin records your activity separately.

On iPhone, optional Apple Health access is read-only and requires permission. It can provide resting heart rate, heart-rate variability, VO2 max and current-day active energy. Motion Relay does not write Health data or request workout routes. You can revoke access in Apple settings.

Sharing with your assistant

Live assistant sharing is optional. When you enable it, Motion Relay sends eligible measurements over HTTPS to its connector. Separately authorizing a ChatGPT connection allows ChatGPT to retrieve permitted results. Opening ChatGPT alone does not authorize access.

Garmin, Apple, Google and OpenAI/ChatGPT operate their own services. Their account records, activity history and conversations are governed by their own controls. Stopping Motion Relay sharing does not erase data already included in an assistant conversation. The separately planned in-app coach is not enabled by these policies.

Accounts and optional compact backup

Account services handle an opaque user identifier, an optional nickname, device and authorization records, consent choices, feature access and credential-expiration information. Protected credentials are used to authenticate requests; server authorization records use credential hashes. Motion Relay does not receive your Garmin, Apple, Google or ChatGPT password.

Where offered, compact completed-activity backup requires separate consent and sends completed summaries to the account service. It is different from a complete chart series: it does not upload raw five-second samples or GPS routes. Turning off backup stops future backup; it does not itself delete earlier summaries. Use account deletion to request removal of linked records. Availability and controls can differ between phone platforms.

Service providers and technical information

Microsoft Azure hosts the account database. Cloudflare and the connector host help deliver and secure connector traffic. These systems may process IP addresses, request times and security events. App stores and operating systems may process their own distribution and diagnostic information.

Support requests contain the contact details and message you choose to send. We use them to respond to the request. Do not send credentials, invitation codes, private workout readings or precise location in support messages.

Retention and deletion

Live connector data is temporary and held in memory. By default, the connector expires the latest snapshot after 90 seconds, rolling samples after 20 minutes and a completed summary after 30 minutes. A restart can clear this data sooner. These windows are separate from account records and optional compact backup.

Account, consent, device authorization, entitlement and compact-summary records persist separately from live readings. Account deletion requests target linked account and fitness records. Network/security logs, support messages and provider backups have separate retention controls; deleting an app or clearing a live snapshot does not erase those copies.

Use the deletion instructions to understand the available controls and ownership-verification limitations. Deletion of Motion Relay records does not delete records held independently by Garmin, app stores or OpenAI/ChatGPT.

Account and data deletion

Your choices

You can leave sharing off, stop sending new readings, revoke optional Apple Health permission, withdraw optional backup consent where offered, or request account deletion. Stopping sharing is different from deleting data already sent. A future phone-local workout store will need its own deletion control before it is offered.

For privacy questions or requests concerning access, correction or deletion, contact us. We need to verify ownership before acting on account records. Do not email account credentials.

Security and changes

Motion Relay uses authenticated HTTPS for connector sharing and platform credential protection. No system is completely secure. Material changes to this policy will be reflected on this page. New optional data uses require their own disclosure and applicable permission.
